Course Description


This course is designed to introduce young and old into the mysteries of Indian cooking. It will be eye opener to the novice and a challenge already experienced.

The course is kept easy and simple to understand. Assistance is given at every stage of cooking, so even those without much experience will be able to leave the class with a sense of accomplishment. Anyone who has not done any cooking in his or her life will find this course easy and digestable.

Above all you are entering the rich, spicy and tasty world of Indian cookery, where you will learn to produce dishes such as Pakoda, Vindaloo, Korma, Kebab etc...

By the end of the course you should be able to...

  • Identify the common ingredients used in Indian Cookery, such as the various spices, lentals, vegetables etc.
  • Follow a recipe without step by step guidance.
  • Experiment with recipes from different cookery books and develop ideas of you own.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of different terms in cooking, such as sauté, seasoning, marinate etc, and the usage of them as and when required.
  • Cook a minimum of two dishes in two hours.

Course length


  • 2 hour session held once a week, for a period of 9 weeks

 

  • Starting 15th Jan at Huntingon school and 16th Jan at Joseph Rowntree school

 

  • Time 7-9 pm
