Cookery classes for adult education begins at Huntington school - 9 week course

Cookery classes for adult education begins at Joseph Rowntree School - 9 week course




February 2nd

Workshop on how to cook an Indian 4 course meal and have it for lunch afterwards.


February 7th

Hirst Courtney +Temple Hirst Primary school: Healthy Lifestyle day

Conducting healthy Indian food workshop
Chapathi rolls - kheema (curried minced meat) with tangy mango chutney and salad

February 15th

Cookery demonstration at Radio York

Topic: Alternative to rice ? What other accompaniments to curries can be offered as the cost of rice is going up ?

Different types of bread were made such as parathas, chapathi, poories and bhatura along with Jeera Aloo (Cumin and potato) and my recipes are available at Radio York


February 16th

Curry cooking workshop for local dads at Brayton College

Dads will prepare a 4 course Indian meal with guidance and have it for lunch.

Pictures and handicraft items made from coconut plants
Look at a young coconut plant.
Get to savour freshly cooked coconut rice and chicken kuruma (made with coconut milk)

Topic: Organised Indian cultural day for Malton college. Workshops provided were healthy indian lunch, Art with spices, rangoli, dance, Indoor Indian game, Costumes and Henna.


July 5th

Indian cookery demonstration at St. Olaves church hall. 
5 course meal demonstration and dishes prepared are served for lunch

Stall in Parliment street with YUMI on Sunday selling sumptuous minced lamb wraps and refreshing pistachio Kulfi (Indian ice cream)

Talk on Christianity in India. 

Similarity and difference in the practice of Christianity in India and England.

September 9th

Global food day celebration at Fishergate school.

Students made cucumber raita, and relished it with vegetable Pulao.They also learnt about the culture of India and had an enjoyable time wearing Indian outfits and accessories.

Make a Smiley Egg cucumber sandwich and understand how Foods of different colours can take special care of different parts of your body.

Dec 11th

East Whitby school

Talk on Festivals of India- what  the similarities between them are - e.g. wearing new clothes, food,family get together, visiting friends.....

Children will also be wearing Indian clothes and preparing cucumber raita.

I will be taking down freshly  homemade  briyani (rice with lamb ) and poppadum , which are cooked and relished by  everyone , irrespective of religion. Indian sweets too will be served-so that they can have an experience of the festive celebrations of India.

The feedback from children from my last visit was really touching.

They mentioned that wearing the clothes, tasting the food, seeing and feeling artefacts of India made them feel what it is like to be an Indian child

international grassroots communities.

Dev, a retired lecturer, still counts numbers to fundraise for educational equipment for her village school in Guyana where she began her teaching career.

Learn why Guyana’s Ewokrama rainforest affects our global climate.

 

Florinda designs and sells authentic products that improve the micro economy in

her Bolivian town.

Thea from Australia makes melody with her International Nursery Song box project which keeps alive the songs from our past.

 

Sharmini, a regional runner-up of South East Asian cookery will be talking about how Neuro-Linguistic Programming has helped her to discover her authentic self and led her to become a teacher of Indian cookery for the past ten years.

She will give a 10 minute workshop on “Discovering your true self” – Help individuals realize their competence to perform different occupations by recognising their skills and abilities.

Learn to prepare and savour Vegetable Crudités with authentic ‘chaat’ hummus dip.

 
 
 

This interesting and informative event engages us to question our global responsibilities.
